VOLUNTEER
There are so many ways that YOU can be part of Palm Harbor Museum!
Our museum is purely volunteer led! If you would enjoy being part of our team, here are areas in which we would be delighted to have you!
Docents/Tour Guides: Do you enjoy meeting new people and sharing your passion for history? We would love for you to become a docent. We'll provide your training and materials that will give you an understanding of the history of the Palm Harbor region and the artifacts in our collection. Docents greet our visitors, provide brief tours sharing details about our building, the historic Hartley House, our exhibits, and the historic events, people, and businesses of our past. Our museum is open from 10 AM to 2 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Most docents are present for each four-hour shift, but the schedule is flexible and can be arranged according to your availability. You will always share a shift with at least one other docent.
Event Volunteers: These individuals serve in various ways, including being on planning committees, recruiting sponsors, seeking out silent auction donations and food contributions, and assisting with set-up and clean-up for special events and fundraisers.
Digital Archivists: Are you a wiz on the computer? Palm Harbor Museum is working extensively to digitize our collection and archives. If this is the kind of work you love and you are passionate about archival preservation, this is the spot for you!
Collection, Creative, Research and Promotional Assistants: Changing exhibits and donations offer opportunities for creative individuals with skills in research, photography, art, digital and web design, promotional design, and installation of items from our collection, visiting exhibits, and donations.
Landscape Care: If you have a green thumb, enjoy nature and landscape design and care, and are passionate about the environment, this area of service might be perfect for you. In addition to scheduled landscape clean-up days throughout the year, we always seek volunteers to show our newly-installed Florida native gardens their love. A little water, a little weeding, a little mulch, and a little pruning goes a long long way to create a flourishing and beautiful landscape. Our plants respond magnificently to human touch.
Museum Facilities Assistance: We love when volunteers assist our building and grounds and installations teams. Whether you are a fix-it maven, installer of displays, or are able to envision creative and beneficial ways to care for and improve facilities, we would love your input.
We would love for you to volunteer or be an intern for the museum in an area that would allow you to utilize your unique talents!
Call (727) 724-3054 to let us know you would like to volunteer or email to express your interest and find out more!
